I began my career in real estate as an investor, performing analyses, due diligence, and deal coordination for a commercial real estate investment team. Blackwell Realty came about almost by accident – when I first met Patrick Blood we began discussing a multi-unit apartment building in the Midwest that I was fixing up for some friends. After that discussion, we realized that we would make a great real estate team.
What really motivated us to start Blackwell Realty, however, was that we noticed that a lot of people living in DC were interested in moving to the Jefferson County area so they could enjoy rural living, but didn’t want to give up all their city comforts. Both Patrick and I have an urban professional background, so we inherently understood what these clients were looking for, and we delivered with an exceptional level of service.
We’re extremely committed to professionalism, honesty, and integrity. That’s not just something we put on our business cards – we live it daily. We’re proud of the fact that we maintain these old-fashioned values while utilizing the most modern methods in our real estate practice. It’s not an either/or question – clients want both, which we’re happy to provide.
I relish the challenge of helping my clients get a great deal. The negotiations, getting a little more for my clients so that the deal makes even more sense for them – it’s one of the best parts of my job. There’s a lot more strategy to real estate sales than people think, and I enjoy taking on those strategic challenges on behalf of my clients and as I work to grow Blackwell Realty.
I love the community in which I work. It’s fun to promote it and welcome great people to the area. I’m the President of the Jefferson County Farmland Protection Board, which works to protect productive farmland for future generations in Jefferson County.
I have a degree from Georgetown University (International Finance and Commerce). I’m most proud of the amazing growth of Blackwell Realty over the past few years. I enjoy spending time with my dog, Chewy, and gardening.
